12-step makeup routine
brows
e.l.f instant lift brow pencil to start!
Before I put on any makeup I quickly (and lightly) fill in my brows. I used to do this step after BB cream/foundation and realized that it wasn’t applying to my skin properly. It would quickly erase and that’s because the foundation wasn’t locking any of the pencil into place on my skin — so always brows first! We will do more later :)
2. Foundation/BB cream
IL makiage
IL Makiage (I woke up like this) (120 Medium Neutral)
I didn’t want to buy into the hype of this foundation but the hype is real. I’ve heard some women say that the quiz they took to match their skin tone was way off but I’ve also heard great things! Mine worked out perfectly.
I use this as my base and what I love about the brand (and what I hated about the Tarte foundation) is how it goes on smoothly and doesn’t enhance my dry skin! This is moisturizing and almost buttery.
For a matte finish - Cover FX Pressed Mineral Foundation (G50 & N50 depending on my tan!)
I will use this as a topper for a matte finish on top of my foundation. A little goes a long way!
For a dewy finish - Covergirl Simply Ageless Foundation (255 soft honey)
I’m obsessed with this foundation and it’s SO affordable. I always thought I wanted a matte finish at all times but having a dewy glow is very on-trend especially for the summer
Foundation Brush - Foundcealer Brush
3. Concealer
Tarte Creaseless Concealer (325 medium sand)
Not overly in love with this concealer but it does the trick now that I know how to correctly apply it!
I’m on the lookout for a better concealer so if you have any recommendations let me know!
4. Contour / Bronzer
Elizabeth Mott Contour Kit (Anastasia lookalike)
I don’t recommend buying off-brand makeup products on Amazon but this is almost exactly like the real deal. I’m obsessed. I use it to lightly contour my cheeks, hairline, nose, and jawline. Then I’ll use the lighter shades under my eyes to really bake the concealer into my skin.
Cover FX Monochromatic Bronzer Duo
Who doesn’t love a good highlight and bronzer duo?! I’ll use the bronzer on top of the contour (very lightly) and then the highlighter at the very end of my routine before adding translucent powder
5. Makeup brushes
These are great everyday brushes to use. I’ve had them for a long time (over a year) and the only thing I’ll say is they need to be washed with soap and water and not with any chemical makeup remover. My favorite makeup remover definitely damaged them because it’s very strong!
MAKEUP BRUSH CLEANER: this stuff is no joke and REALLY works. It’s like magic 🤯
6. Concealer/Contour/Baking
Tarte Shape Tape (27S light medium sand)
I apply this directly on the face where i draw a line from my earlobe to about halfway down my cheek. Think of it the way Kim K will bake her makeup to give her that really crips like from her cheekbone to the rest of her face.
I don’t like baking my face. I don’t understand it lol so what I do is I draw the line and then I use my concealer brush and cover my entire cheek with the concealer.
I leave it there on both sides of my face while I finish my brows and do my eyes!
7. Brows Pt. 2
Maybelline Brow Fast Sculpt (260)
I use this to make my brows a little darker.
For the boy brow look and to keep the brows in place
8. EYES
This was a gift and i love it It has the best set of colors
Nyx Professional Jumbo Eye Pencil (604 MIlk)
I use this for the inner crease of my eye to give it a nice pop
L’Oréal Infallible Super Slim Eyeliner (black/noir)
I’ve used a lot of eyeliners and i ALWAYS revert back to this one. It goes on sooo smooth and is very forgiving
L’Oréal Voluminous Base - eyelash primer
9. Finish Contouring
Use contour brush to blur the line you created with the shape tape concealer now you’ll have a nice even contour!
10. Translucent Powder
L'Oreal Infallible Tinted Loose Setting Powder, Matte Finish
Lately, I haven’t been using a beauty blender because i haven’t liked the way it blends so what I do to even everything out is applying translucent powder with a big brush and going over all my makeup until it’s blended to my liking!
11. blush
My mom got this for me YEARS ago and it lasts forever. It’s also the perfect highlighter/blush combo. This gives me a perfect glow and really mixes everything together. A little goes a long way and apply some to the bridge of your nose!
12. Setting Spray
Cover FX High Performance Setting Spray: Weightless, Alcohol-free
I’ve used Urban Decay, L’Oreal Infallible and even HAIRSPRAY and nothing works as well as the Cover FX setting spray— honestly I felt like hairspray worked the second best even though we know how horrible that is for your skin LOL
