I had to.
did i spend $1,800 on an office chair? yes. am i disgusted with myself? kinda. could i have gotten the same brand off facebook marketplace if i tried hard enough? probably. but alas… here we are. and i gotta say… it’s an amazing desk chair.
if you’re looking for support, you won’t find many chic desk chairs, trust me i looked. it’s either you’re sacrificing back pain for the aesthetic or you’re saving your body for a HUGE piece of black plastic lmfao.
the sales guy told me that herman miller has been around for years (i think late 80’s?) and that they “pretty much” invented ergonomics. i knew the brand was elite but it was reassuring to know HM is the best of the best. probably why they feel the need to charge a ridiculous amount of money -_-
i went into the HM showroom with the intention of buying a chair and that’s exactly what i did. I sat in every model and ultimately decided on the cosm chair in slate gray (which looks blue in sunlight). the sit time is between 6-8 hours and the chair comes in three back sizes, you can see what those sizes are in the picture above ^.
the only cons i have are:
the cost: the audacity lol like this chair is so fucking expensive, i cannnooot 🙄. THAT BEING SAID, when i was researching— i read many articles that compared buying a chair to buying a mattress. it’s an investment that can save your body from pain, and to me, that’s worth it. however, there are ways i could have made this less expensive. there are other brands that have notariaty but tbh, not THAT many and it’s hard to really know because office chairs tend to all look so alive (excluding this one lol).
the delivery time: i ordered the cosm in mid february and i didn’t get it until mid march. MID. MARCH. I’m pretty sure it was supposed to be delivered in april but i emailed the sales guy and said i was really considering cancelling my order because i needed something sooner and i didn’t want to wait until april to get my $1,800 chair!! and personally, i feel like that’s very reasonable.
did i mention the price? lol
