why we’re even here
Why do I need a TALL glass of wine in order to write my first blog post 😅?
When I was a kid I wanted to be a slew of things: party planner, wedding planner, professional softball player (unsure lol) even an FBI agent (long story)… HOWEVER one that kept resurfacing was… blogger.
Do you know how many half-started blogs of mine are out there on the internet?! At least five, maybe ten. As soon as a new platform started, I was ON it. Before there was Squarespace (which is how *this* beautiful blog was created) or Wix it was Blogger, WordPress, Xanga, LiveJournal -- the list goes on.
I’d watch Read It and Weep on Disney Channel, braces and all, thinking, “Well if Danielle Panabaker can do it, SO CAN I”. Then I’d spend a week on a blog and get bored. Story of my life.
WELL HERE’S TO CHANGE. It only took 10 years 😂.
Blogging took a backseat for a long time. I went to college, moved to New York, fell in love like a million times, changed careers another million times, and finally ended up doing sales, living in Chicago with a boy and a French Bulldog. Life is wild.
I wouldn’t even say I’m a blogger now. FAR from that, tbh. Honest truth, I have no idea what the hell I am. The world turned upside down because of a pandemic, I got laid off from my job and decided to try and promote Amazon products.
Oh, and I also had a breakup that somehow made me TikTok “famous”.
At my age -- the shining age of 27 -- you’re pretty much just trying to make things WORK every day. I’m a mess inside and out and I think the reason I am “successful” is that I embrace it.
I went through a breakup, so I filmed it all.
Start to “finish” aka: getting back together.
Let me tell you… it takes courage to put yourself out there.
IN CONCLUSION (that’s how I ended every single HS/college paper lol), I’d like to share a piece of miscalculated information that a once-upon-a-time-judgy-friend told me. We were hanging out and I reluctantly told her about what was going on in my life at the time. It was messy, I’m not going to lie. The thing is, I was coming out of it stronger and I was taking the right steps in order to do so. Regardless, all she could say was, “What are you going to tell your followers?”.
I don’t live my life for Instagram or TikTok. I live my life and then SHARE IT ON Instagram and TikTok.
See the difference?
Whether you’re working in social media or not: on’t EVER listen to someone that says, “what are you going to tell people?”. Be yourself. Be genuine.
The people that want you in their lives, will make the time. Facts.
